No Rope Explosive Barbwire Deathmatch
In this match, the ropes are replaced with barbed wire and sometimes barbed wire boards are placed within the ring. "C4 explosives" are attached to both the ropes and boards, so when a wrestler hits them, they explode. The ring is set up to detonate at a specific time in the match, and explosives near the corners of the ring cause fire to shoot upward. The most famous example of this match the IWA Japan King of the Deathmatch final featuring Terry Funk and Cactus Jack.
The match is extremely dangerous, and it is usually used to finish a rivalry. The first ever match of this kind was Atsushi Onita vs. Tarzan Goto in the FMW promotion in 1990. It then became a staple during the deathmatch era of FMW.
